Pathways to Resilience

"I just wanted to let you know how well A is getting on in class since the Resilience club course. She has really found her voice. We are thrilled that she is really gaining in confidence – with her peers this means she is talking and beginning to make friendships. The girls in the class all wanted to include her in their games and now she is much more responsive she is enjoying playtime more. Her volume when answering questions has improved so other children can hear her respond in class and value her opinion. Of course, being valued and respected for good ideas feeds into confidence. etc. We will continue to work with her and encourage her, but I am thrilled with her progress, so far."

YEAR 4 Form Teacher

I co-created the Pathways to Resilience in September 2021 with my colleague Helen Bradley, a qualified Breath worker, in response to the numerous challenges many children and families faced with the return to school after close to two years of disruption.  This is so disheartening for the children as well as for the adults who care for them. We therefore came together to deliver a unique programme, that we feel can compliment the support that goes on in schools, by giving children more time and opportunity to develop important tools for modern life.

Our workshop is a 6-10 week programme designed to improve the key skills children need to be resilient in life.  The programme starts by helping children to understand what resilience is and to recognise and normalise the different emotions that we all experience.  It then moves on to exploring tools to build resilience, such as positive thinking, empathy and asking for help.  Each subject matter is delivered through games, art, breathwork and discussion.

Our Pathways to Resilience programme is beginning to reach schools in the local area, it is our intention is to keep it growing.

We offer Parent Workshops as well as Staff Training around Regulation and Stress Management so do get in touch if this is of interest and we can discuss in more detail.
